Artist of the Season
Current Featured Artist for April - June
Resident, Kairos House
My name is Randall Sykes and I was born and raised in Philadelphia. At about the age of seven or eight years old I was drawing cartoon characters. Some of the cartoons were named Charlie Brown, Superman, and Batman. I continued to do art as the years went by. At about the age of fifteen, I became a graffiti artist and was doing graffiti on the walls of the city of Philadelphia. I joined the anti-graffiti network in 1987 and I started painting murals.
I became ill and too sick to work anymore. After a while I became homeless. I have been in shelters, care homes, and boarding homes around the city. I was in different cities. As the years went by, I found an organization called Project HOME. The first facility I was in was called Saint Columba. Then I was transferred to another one of the facilities called Kairos House. Then I was moved to the main building at 1515 Fairmount.
Now I am participating in the Project HOME art shows. I sold at least 28 paintings since I have been in Project HOME. There have been at least 10 shows I have been in already. I attend art classes and do other art programs. I am still painting more pictures for more shows.
